Pussytoes
Antennaria parlinii
Commonly known as Parlin's Pussytoes, is a herbaceous perennial native to eastern and central North America. This charming wildflower belongs to the Asteraceae family and is known for its soft, silvery foliage and delicate, white flower clusters that bloom from April to June. The flowers are arranged in clusters at the top of the stems and resemble a cat's paw, which gives the plant its common name.
The plant grows 18 inches tall and prefers dry, rocky areas in full sun to partial shade. It thrives in well-drained, acidic soils and is often found in prairies, open woodlands, and rocky slopes. This resilient wildflower not only adds beauty to its natural habitat but also supports local pollinators, making it an important part of the ecosystem.
