Ninebark (Physocarpus opulifolius)
The name “ninebark” comes from the exfoliating bark that peels back as the bush matures. Often used to stabilize soil due its ability to tolerate many growing conditions. Maximum height of ~10 ft (3 m). Flowers in late May or July and fruits in August or October (edible). Fall foliage is red.
