The Elephant Heart plum is a striking Japanese variety named for its large, heart-shaped fruit. Ripening in late summer, the plums feature deep red skin and richly colored flesh that is sweet, juicy, and aromatic, making them excellent for fresh eating, preserves, and desserts. The tree itself is vigorous and productive, with an attractive form that adds ornamental value to orchards and gardens. Because it requires cross-pollination, pairing with compatible Japanese plums such as Santa Rosa or Fortune ensures abundant harvests and reliable fruit set.
