The Clare Conservation District (Clare CD) is a local unit of government that utilizes resources from public and private sectors to bring diverse groups together to solve local resource problems. As stewards of the land, we strive to protect watersheds by conserving forests and reforesting open spaces. We encourage stewardship responsibilities of landowners, and are the prime local source of environmental education.

Our projects and activities are diverse and respond to local environmental challenges. We are currently working to:
 - Mitigate the negative impacts from non-native and invasive species such as spongy moth (formerly gypsy moth)
 - Minimize soil erosion
 - Assist landowners with any questions they have regarding their forests and how to enroll in conservation programs
 - Promote tree and shrub sales

The Clare CD is governed by a locally elected, five member board of directors. This ensures that local residents have a decision of conservation issues on the local level. The state and local governments provide technical assistance to the district.

The Clare CD is located on the 2nd floor of the Clare County Courthouse, at 225 West Main Street in Harrison, Michigan.
